Pensacola is located on the Gulf of Mexico coast in the state of Florida (FL), close to the border with Alabama. The city is divided into a number of districts, while Pensacola Regional Airport is located only 3 miles / 5 km to the east of the center. Situated at the heart of the city is the downtown district, which consists of several neighborhoods, many of which are home to significantly important historical buildings.

The southwesterly tip of the bay's peninsula is host to the Pensacola Naval Air Station, while two sand banks in the Gulf protect the bay, Pensacola Beach and Perdido Key. Part of the Gulf Islands National Seashore, the Gulf Breeze district is where you will find Pensacola's most significant landmark, Fort Pickens, while other attractions here include the Zoo.
